What makes a Good Breeder vs a Bad Breeder.
1. First and foremost she cares and listens to what her new pet owners are looking for in a pet.
2. Makes sure the new owners are well informed about what the pet needs are and will be in the future.
3. Keeps all new pet owners informed on how their new pet is doing and growing.
4. Keeps all her queens and toms current and up to date on all medical or grooming needs and can show proof.
5. Willing to provide references and referrals to potential new owners.
6. Cares about the well being of all pets she has brought into this world.
7. Willing to stand behind the pets she has sold when things are good or bad.
8. Knows that breeding cats is not a money making business and it is not profitable.
9. Is able to meet the needs of any animal she owns.
10. Has a wonderful support system i.e. vet, groomer, past owners, other breeders.
11. Keeps and runs a clean environment.
12. Knows a cat wasn't meant to live in a cage all its life.
13. Promotes spay and neutering.
14. Is willing to say no if a potential owner is not right.
15. Provides all paperwork i.e. health cert. and paperwork when the pet is ready to go home.
16. Full payment for Unborn Pets are not taken in advance but deposits will be accepted.
I have decide to compile this list of what makes a good breeder vs a bad breeder because I have seen a great deal of people who buy a pet with out thinking carefully about whom to buy the kitten/puppy from and also people who only want to get into breeding.... with the idea they will make money. I have seen some breeders who sadly have taken extreme measures in their pursuit for the almight dollar... this is unfortunate for their pets and for the families that buy from them. Knowledge, caring, and the love of animals should be place first in any type of breeding program. As potential owners if your heart says yes but your mind says no then walk away by buying from a "bad breeder" you are only supporting them to continue on with their business, you are not rescuing or saving but providing the financial means for that "bad breeder" to continue on. There are many of us who really care and we want the best for our animals and the best for you! Our goal is to sell to you a pet that will be a wonderful lifetime companion.
Thanks, Keith and Cathy Forge
